Personally I always liked the Apogee Mini-DAC with John Grado cans, so a nice stable platform transport feeding some clean Redbook CD signals to it can only help. Plus, the Mini-DAC is transportable so you can use a Discman with a digital out when you're travelling!

Jahn,

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my question. This little guy, Apogee DAC, is hard to find in Poland. Have you tried the Beresford DAC? This one is quite accessible here. The question is - is it worth to buy an external DAC for my Pioneer or is buying a new source a better idea? Like I said, I love Pioneer due to its stable platter and its reliability.
