Your favourite colour of socks - Page 2

WHITE socks.
Short white socks, almost ankle high.
I only wear jeans, so white socks go well with them. While I'm at work the socks barely come to the top of my work boots.
Recently I bought some white socks with grey bottoms. They are good too.

I never thought of it quite like that before I can honestly say I only own one pair of black socks and the only time I will wear them is at a funeral, I associate black socks with morbid occasions and couldn't wear them every day.

Maybe so but onlookers may think that you never change your socks and may refer to you as "there's that bloke who never washes his feet" whereas if you wear different coloured / patterned socks each day then you'll be classed as a person who keeps clean feet.

That kinda makes sense, the Swedes are in and out of the sauna and are generally an active bunch so they probably change their underpants 3 times a day between saunas which would account for the 22 underpant count, 3 per day = 21 for the week with one pair kept as spares.

Your trivia never ceases to amaze me Jim and I had a quick underpant count to see how my pant stash compared with your typical Swede and I fall way short of owning 22 pairs (unless you class the 37 pairs that are being used as dusters as being in "active" service) my active pant stash is a pretty paltry "8 pairs" and they are far from being in good condition, my last new set of three was probably given to me on Christmas day 2000 (I have never knowingly ever purchased a pair of underpants) by my EX girlfriend.

Anyways, I digress, Black socks and white socks are topping the sock poll..... I really can't believe this! Fair enough, if all you wear are white trainers then white socks it is (white trainers and black socks are just a NO NO! IMO) Similarly if all you wear is black shoes then black socks are a must (Black shoes and white socks are a NO NO!)

Pink Shoes = Pink socks / yellow socks
Brown shoes = Brown / beige socks / patterned socks
Green shoes = ?

This leads on nicely to a "how many pairs of shoes do you own" thread and what colours are they and what colour sock compliments the shoes........

It's not all black and white unless you either wear white trainers or black shoes all the time.

Hey Pinkie Do you guys ever wear shorts over there. If you wear solid colored or multi colored socks pulled up to your knees with shorts you pretty much get laughed at over here.

Only fat people wear shorts in the UK (I'm generalising) and they take great pride in showing their beer guts off (as if It's some sort of status symbol) and they generally sport white socks which makes their fat sunburned legs look even more like a couple of overcooked fat lobsters.

I dunno about the US but "dress sense" has gone out the window over here as has "taste" and coordination....... grossly obese people wandering the streets pouting their bellies in your direction dressed up like kippers seems the norm over here. (and these people think they look cool)

Interesting topic as I just bought some socks yesterday -- black with colored heels and toes.

For casual wear, I've generally worn white socks but as I'm changing my wardrobe to chinos and jeans with casual dress shoes, white is too tacky. Black is pretty safe to wear with most trousers and shoes combination so that's why I chose it. Grey is OK, too, but only the black ones were on sale yesterday.

Dark gray, but it needs to be so dark that it matches well with my shoes (black leather). A problem I have with the black socks I own is that it can be difficult to get all of the lint off of them. This is mainly due to the material though, so maybe I should just get different ones.

Also: I have decided that I need to own some nice multicoloured socks, so the next pair I see are mine.

edit.

I wear sneakers. I wear blue jeans most of the time, except when shorts seem like a better idea. I am no great fan of short pants, though. I wear white socks because they go well with my shoes. Grey or black socks would just look not-right with my ensemble.

However, let's not go into my fashion sense.

Hmm, I don't often look at my feet. Probably explains why I end up wearing mixed up pairs every now and then. Speaking of socks...I'm in dire need of some new ones, but can't even afford them thanks to this stupid site and my damn wallet for being so sleazy and going after every pair of headphones that look at him right.

ALL my socks are the exactly the same and black. My entire sock draw if full of black "Explorer" socks. I don't have to worry about pairs because they are all the same. This makes it easy and works for me.

Red on the left, Green on the right - that way, others can tell if I am COMING OR GOING....

Drives the wife NUTS....

But I am retired, and have a Maritime past - why not?

Most people don't notice, or comment...

White on weekends, black and dark blue on weekdays.
