Audiomeca Ambrosia/ Old DACs...10 years++

Hs anyone heard of this DAC?

I'm looking at this as an alternative to the 12 years old Audio Synthesis DAX which goes for a slightly (just slightly ) cheaper price. I'm just worried that even though these DACs are probably high end at their time, they are outperformed by modern newer DACs like the Benchmark (I can't demoed them, forced to blindly order them which is why I refuse to buy them for now). This DAC is however new and has never been sold. It doesn't appear on the website leading me to believe that is has been outphased. They have no archive section either. Its a 20 bit DAC I believe. I know Audiomeca is famous for Mephisto mostly. I've emailed them and hopefully they will entertain me.

This search for used DACs have been very interesting. I found brands like Goldmund and Conrad Johnson (within my price range...USD 1000) and its very hard to get review for this products and I don't see them getting mention in this forums. Perhaps they are obscure brands? Auditioning them is another matter though (I'll explain later ).

Did you ever get any info on, or try out the Audiomeca Ambrosia ?

I had auditioned the Audiomeca Enkianthus which is a 5 year old DAC and sold for $5500 at the time. It was very nice, but it did not have the upgrade done to it which was apparently added to the second revision of the Enkianthus. The upgrade included a new Anagram Technologies hardware revision.

It blew the DAC in my Opera away, until I put a VD Master LE 2.0 Power cord on it.... now they are on par with eachother.
