Warning - Wack Idea - Warning / Community SR60 - Page 2

It is an OK idea, once you get around the trust issue. The problem I see is the geographical one. I guess I have not idea when people live, but I live in Nebraska. I don't want to drive a long ways just to pick up headphones to listen to them a little bit and give them away.

I think it might be best to buy a good quality case or box to ship them in. But the shipping cost might not make it a great idea.

Edit: I guess on the Trust issue, you need to make everybody that wants to participate put in the market value of the phones into a pot. Then have somebody trustworthy manage it.

Everyone putting an equal amount in the pot doesn't allow for growth after the sequence is put into intiation, or at least then the pot would grow larger than the inital price of the cans, also with the pot system it would take just 1 bad apple to piss everyone off, with the safety deposit scinereo the only person that would get pissed if someone nabed the cans is the naber cause they lost their deposit, nobody else would lose anything.

My suggestion:

Start with the grado SR-60 headphones as the loaner item

make a list of all people participating with full contact info

You DONT have to cover EVERYONE on the first go. Let the first ruun be for 15 members tops! Once you get your headphones back you can focus on another geographical area and limit the numbers to 15 members.

Each member is responsible for shipping to the next member and all of them will contribute $2.00 towards headFi for the experience. $1.00 goes to you and $1.00 goes to headFi (this will cover your shipping cost at the end of every run and headfi will get $15.00 at the end of every run)

Once this works out you can try with other headphones. Hey - Jude can even purchase the headphone and make it back off the money that comes in through this "subscription"

Sorry for everyone with low post count and stuff BUT unless you have a solid headfier willing to vouch for you...you are SOL.

Well...you know the deal and how to work it out - what I suggested is what I would do.

Another idea:

pThed -> A (A deposits $69.00 to pTheD via paypal)
A -> B (B deposits $69.00 to ptheD via paypal)
B -> C ( ditto )
C -> D....
D -> ....
...

ultimately ptheD gives back $69.00 to the last guy upon receipt of the headphones.

Add $1.00 towards headfi (which will be sent to headfi directly...maybe a mod can compile the list to make sure everyone has paid up)

Each member is responsible for shipping to the next person in line.

This way a lot of people can audition the SR-60 for about $10.00 tops! including headFi contribution, shipping etc.

Save the same box/packing materials as well...

this is better IMO because nobody can escape with the cans without coughing up a deposit first! A LOT more people can play this game.

Actually, that's an awesome idea! Now here's the question - where are we going to get the cans from? To be honest, I'm not ready to volunteer my SR-80's as they are the only good can I have!

Isn't this just a less complicated on my plan but with shipping and not hand to hand and no system for checking the condition of the phones at each point?

So the first thing I need for a plan like this, or at least one of the things, is to know if there is someone that wants to demo some SR60s that is willing to drive to Spring Valley, Wisconsin to meet P The D in person and pick up said SR60s?

So is there anyone in the head-fi community (wheather reading this thread or not) that is willing to do this? Hmmm, maybe this could be a problem if they don't read this thread....I think we need some publicity?

BTW, if you are reading this and are willing to do it, PM me.
