I can't think of any other anime more heart-wrenching (touching really) than ~After Story~. I would even put it ahead of Grave of The Fireflies.

p.s. Episode 18 is where it's best....

Clannad ~After Story~ is simply THE most touching story (not just anime) I've ever watched.

Agreed. But the ending. It was like suddenly the fantasy elements which I thought were just a metaphor became real... Kinda tainted the whole thing for me. I might have to rewatch.

Even more touching than Grave of the Fireflies?  I may have to check it out.

The 1st season starts out like your typical Key dating sim (guy protagonist getting close -not dating- to each of the heroines) and concludes with him pursuing further relationship with the main heroine. The 2nd season ~After Story~ is where the fully fleshed twist/storyline occurs.

Something to keep in mind in case you are expecting to be blown right away from the first episode. wink.gif

Speaking of animes that act sort of like a dating sim...

-suddenly reminded of School Days-

I personally find the wanton lack of moral restraint by the protagonist disgusting. The ending though (nice boat) is quite something and I admittedly felt a kind of satisfaction watching that bit.

Yes, Makoto was a bit of a douchebag.  Sekai was a bit of a bitch.  The only character who wasn't an awful person was Kotonoha, though that point is made somewhat null by the very end. :P

yeah the first season of clannad didnt do a darn thing, and its kind of turned me off to watching After Story, but what with all its hype in here and else where i think i'll have to give it a shot.

i watched all of Eden of the East the other day, and that was pretty awesome as well, gonna watch the first movie soon!

i think the only anime ive gotten a little teary eyed during was Tokyo Magnitude 8

Clannad S1 and S2 is great in my book, didn't move to to tears (doubt anything can) but it have a good story and good depth.

Just finished watching Eden of the East.  Haven't seen such a good anime in a long time!

I just finished watching K-on! and Durarara!! you guys should check it out! I just started watching Eden of the East yesterday, looking good so far!

I really enjoyed both, but I think K-On! is pretty polarizing. Definitely not for everyone. DRRR! is a ton of fun, though it drops off a little towards the end.

Eden of the East, the TV series is great! I wish the movies had carried on the same way. Still a good watch, but a different feel since they were limited in time and trying to answer the stuff they set up in the series.

I love K-On!, but it's definitely not for everyone.  Moe slice-of-life is not something I'm going to recommend to my friend who loves chanbara style stuff, for instance.  tongue_smile.gif

Eden of the East was definitely very good.   I haven't gotten around to watching the movies yet...I have no idea why.  LOL.
