Any anime series that you've been enjoying? - Page 10

Hmm, forgot what I last posted in this thread, but currently the only recent series (recent as in R1 DVD release still in process) I'm keeping up with and enjoying are Mermaid Forest, Scrapped Princess, and Maison Ikkoku (finally getting back into MI after a hiatus). All of the above are excellent shows IMO, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of other new R1 shows that look like they'd appeal to me.

Oops, almost forgot I've had the final disc of Ghost in the Shell: SAC sitting unwatched for 3 months. I really should finish that as I'm sure I'll enjoy it, like I did the previous 6 discs.

BTW- Has anyone seen Mousou dairinin (Paranoia Agent) yet? That's the next one I've been meaning to see.

I saw the first one or two episodes. Looked very promising. The ost is composed by mr. berserk and is quite fitting. A good choice.

Hajime no Ippo has 76 eps, a special and a movie. This is by far my favourite sports anime. I urge anyone who love sports and anime to watch this series. The series makes boxing so much more fun and awesome than it is in real life.

Boxing, yes, MMA, no

I think 76 eps includes the takamura special ep, right? The OVA is kimura vs. mashiba.

Thats when you really know an anime series is worthwhile. Anyway the series is set is medieval times with the obligatory magic and dragons, however the world is post-apocalyptic in certain ways allowing some technology to still be available. I won't go into any plot spoiling details there. Anyway the Scrapped Princess (which means abandoned princess BTW, such a strange title), is believed by the religious leaders to bring about chaos and destruction to the world on her sixteenth birthday, so basically everyone wants her dead So the series tracks the princess as she avoids her persuers and makes friends and comrads along the way. Aside from getting a big load of plot dropped in your lap around the middle of the series spanning a couple of episodes, the pacing was very good. Also there were a few emotional moments in the series where you really felt for the characters. All and all I'd say 4.5/5, very excellent and highly recommended!
I know exactly what you talking about, having watched 12 episodes or so in one sitting and all... It is worth noting that the OST really shines as well, I get to listen to a few tracks on a daily basis. The only shortcoming I can point out is obviously rushed ending. The original book differs from the anime in the plot, I heard, however, which makes more sense : Raquel was in love with Suin (sp?), and thus was very persistantly reluctant to fight her. Whereas in anime, his feelings toward her is mostly sympathy. My favorite chara out of all was Zephy

Speaking of the newer series, has anyone seen Jigoku Shoujo yet? Havnt seen anything so spooky and eerie since the early episodes of Boukyaku no Seritsu. Needless to say, I highly recommend it

well.I know there are hentai endings in school days..
I think doki doki school hours is a fake of AZUMANGA ,I don't like it .
and gokujo seitokai ...well.,I just have watched 4eps that's not my type..but its my friends..

THANKS ,so thats called harem show .
P.S,my friend called himself henna ojisan...he think thats cool...- -|||
I am still trying to get a hold of Memories Off, although Nocturne is easily one of my favorite songs of all time. As for school days having ecchi endings, you should try the game itself. To say the least, there is a reason why its classified as a "yarudora", what a striking difference between Fate/Stay Night in terms of how often ecchi scenes appear. Recently, I have started watching Azumanga again, seeing how there are a handful of shows that get labeled as a "azumanga clone". No doubt the show is excellent and enjoyable, but I dont think its any better or more original than other shows of similar type (bottle fairy, gokujo seitokai, pani poni dash!, you name it...). It was great for its time, but I prefer other newer shows as far as humor goes. Too bad you didnt find gokujo seitokai to your liking. I still insist you should at least try episodes 10, 11 and 17. Sometimes it takes some time for a show to grow on you; case in point, I thought Mahoraba was off to a good start yet a lukewarm show at best, but my views have changed drastically halfway through the series

I think there are 2 OVAs. The other one is "Boxer's Fist" and is all about Takamura. I hope they'll come out with a second season for the series.

Maybe it does. All I have are the 76 eps, kimura vs mashiba OVA and the movie. Wish they could come out with a new season, but very slim chance that they'll do. Great series nevertheless.

I think technically you are right, since takamura's ep didn't air but was only on the dvd (I think) but it's hard to think of it as an ova since it was only 20 or so minutes long I believe it is labelled ep 76 in most places.

Oh man, I know I'm late to the game but I just watched Porco Rosso for the first time and I have to say that so far, this is my favourite Miyazaki's production from the 7 or 8 movies I've seen by him.

Strikingly beautiful, very intimate, pretty "cool" for a Miyazaki film and just extremely human. I think it's better than Laputa, Mononoke, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausicaa, Totoro, Howl's Moving Caslte, Cat Returns, etc. It doesn't try to be bigger than life like some of his productions but still a bit more ambitious than the slice-of-life style of Kiki's Delivery Service. The animation in his more recent movies is obviously better but as far as great characters are concerned, it just doesn't get any better than this.

The best anime I've ever seen? Perhaps, I'd say it depends on the mood but this is easily in my top three or four. Really, really good and I can't recommend it more dearly. Puts most of modern anime to shame really.

guess what, I have been a resident konomi fanboy ever since I first saw the first doujin works shortly after TH2 was released, it goes way back (still havnt gotten too far in the game tho)
Downloading Shakugan no Shana as I am typing, Kugimiya Rie + Kawasumi Ayako = must-see (e.g. 2x2=shinobuden, Dokurochan)
