The HP-2's have landed...and they are here to stay! - Page 2

wow, I had no idea they had such an effect on you sorry for making you go threw so much to get a pair and I'm so glad you finally got them and enjoy them so much. The HP2s along with the Raptor are my newest and so far best fix for this audio addiction. Pure heaven I tell you.

yes, very much, after using the HP2s for some time, the SR325s were almost painfully to listen to so I sold them. I still like my RS1s for some music where I find their coloration beneficial and preferable. Although after my experimenting with varies tubes for the Raptor I can have this coloration to some degree on the HP2s just by rolling in the right tubes.

Zanth,

Thank you for your reply and just wanted to say that was a wonderful review! However, in my situation, i had listened to standard cable on my hr-2 as well as the owner's melos, with source being an arcam 72t i believe. Not just the highs, but everything but the bass just sounded recessed, hidden, unengaging, completely devoid of tonal character. The reference cable with hr-2 and meridian solves those issues completely for me, bass just as strong with everything else coming more focused and clear into the picture, like a veil lifted, weird.

I would imagine my impressions could also be a result of the arcam vs. the meridian, which makes sense because the hp-2's seem to take on whatever sound signature is upstream, or it could be due to my original hypothesis that his hp-2's simply were off and "dead."

Obi wan once thought as you did...you don't know the power of the Hp-2's.

Now join me and we will rule the universe as Hp-2's fanboys...

Hmm I can see a Hp-2 appreciation thread getting started real soon, anyone?

Honestly, I think the best bet is to get the Hp1000's recabled by John, his cable is far superior. In fact, my HP-1's have needed a recabling for some time, and they will be getting an RS-1/PS-1 cable, not the old HP-1 cable, and frankly, I'm very pleased about this.

I feel so left out now. I didn't know they would be a gateway to social gatherings. Can former owners participate?

Interesting timing on your thread. I sat down and spent a lot of time with my HP-1's last night for the first time in a long time and they were wonderful with the GS-1 even at very low voumes which I have never considered to be one of their strong points... It was a great night!

It has been far too long since the HP-1000's have been hyped. I think it is time again for those lesser Head-fiers to understand the full power of the HP-1000!

It is afterall the most powerful weapon in the universe!

er...headphone I mean

Now we're talking! I agree, the john grado cabling seems to be of higher quality than joe's and i also believe a huge part of current grado's forward nature is due to the cable, which might go very well with some hp's

I was really surprised by how good it was on everything I threw at it from jazz to reggae to heavy metal. Great sound on all!

Actually, as a weapon I reckon it would indeed be much more powerful than other headphones

Lord RedWings, I submit to your will and offer myself as your hp-2 apprentice - with the combined power of our hp-2's we can rule over head-fi with an iron fist (literally)
