What You Think is The Best Intro in a Song!

Okay, I think this is not done before.
What do you think is the coolest intro in a song according to you ?

So far (that I can remember), I have 2 :

- Lenny Kravitz - Are you Gonna Go My Way

- Dire Straits - Money for Nothing.

I think those two are a guarantee toe-tapping/head moving material there.

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
Metallica - Fade to Black
Guns n' Roses - Sweet Child of Mine (&November Rain)

I always liked the piano intro to The Who's Love, Rain O'er Me found on Quadrophenia. Also the Stone's intro to You Can't Always Get What You Want always brings a smile to my face.

Good call on the Van Halen, I don't think I would have remembered or thought of that one. Another one of my favorites is also from Van Halen

Van Halen- Right Now
I absolutely love the piano and such

first line of the first track of Funkadelic's first album...

"If you will suck my soul, I will lick your funky emotions."
(sound familiar?)

"Mommy, What's a Funkadelic?" from Funkadelic - Funkadelic

"When there is nothing else to burn, you must set yourself on fire"
Or something to that affect

You want all of em???

Heres a few:

Van Halen - Panama, hot for teacher, Jump... Love the opening synth tone, sounds good cranked to earbleed levels.

Dreamtheater - Home

AC/DC - Hells Bells

Metallica - Fade to Black, For Whom the Bell tolls, Master of Puppets, One

Iron Maiden - 666 the number of the beast - Love that opening guitar riff, I can play that riff all night, with a little flanger, Snake eyes in heaven... huge balls/chunk.

Queensryche - Queen of the reich, Empire... Marshall tone heaven

Rush - Closer to the heart, Limelight, Subdivisions, Tom Sawyer

John Fogerty - Centerfield

Ozzy / sabbath - Bark at the Moon, Paranoid

Im sure Im missing some Dreamtheater tunes... but those are the ones off the top of my head.

I think Pink Floyd has by far the best intro's ever. I love the intro in "Time", Echo's is good too.

Dream Theater's "The Great Debate" has a really interesting intro.

Overall, the intro to the Blues Brothers' show, "I Can't Turn You Loose" is the best intro ever. In itself it is an intro.

Thought you might like to see the answers given in an old thread on the same subject:

While I'm at it, here's one vote for the two-guitar intro of the Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter."
