Well, I would, except some arsehole (no one on Head-fi, a local friend) is borrowing the SR60 pinks I intended to butcher for drivers...need to bug him today because he's headed out of town tomorrow for Thanksgiving week.

I have leverage though. He wants me to check in on his wretched dog while he's gone.

Well, if he doesn't plan to take them on the trip, you could just as easily repo those suckers when you go check on the dog. Leave him something as a placeholder. I'm sure you could think of a few creative ideas involving the excrement. 😈

Well, I got the cans back...and his dog is a horrid little beastie. I spent 45 minutes chasing the wretched animal last night trying to get it into the house and into its crate. I was ready to start experimenting with excrement and revenge by the time I was done.

Nevertheless, I liberated the drivers this morning, and popped them into the new cups. Will try to spend time with them at the office today. Brief initial impressions are that the difference when adding some goop to the cup walls is very subtle (as, I guess, are many of the mods we do). I like what I hear. I feel a little less like I am standing outside and more like I am in an acoustically correct studio. This might be placebo though...would be interested in hearing what other folks hear if they try this.

My RS1i headphones have been completely recabled with 20 feet of Cardas cable. The tech who dismantled and reassembled the wooden cups to replace the entire stock cable really did a wonderful and professional job, but it's not a job I would recommend for the inexperienced. The Cardas cable upgrade brings in some extra refinement and clarity to the sound, and the extra length really comes in handy.

It feels so luxurious having the extra long cable because I'm completely free to move around the room as I listen. No more having to remove the headphones every time I want to get up from my listening chair,  and no more need for extension cables. I do own the Grado extension cord so my total roaming distance can be as much as 35 feet, but so far 20 feet seems to be perfectly adequate...
