I cut mine rough with tin snips then used a dremel with a stone to finish the shaping, then a metal bar and some pliers to curl up the ends a bit to stop it unwinding
Mine friction fit inside the cups (I wanted a slightly bulging centre rather than flat) so mine are cut slightly larger than the cup size
To do them flat would be easy as the outer lip will disguise the edges of the mesh, just make sure your trimming is perfect wink.gif

So I bought these broken pair of SR225 on the FS forum: http://www.head-fi.org/t/713156/grado-sr225-for-parts-repair

I got them today and there was no sound out of the right side and intermittent sound out of the left. I removed the y-split and noticed the right connection had totally severed in the y-split. I twisted the connections together to check the drivers and they sound just fine. Phew...

Should have some new wood housings in a couple of weeks...finishing up my cable...and that turbulent headband looks so nice I just might have to increase my budget for this project and pick one up...

Brilliant! If you can, spend some time with them stock so you can take notes when you start your mods!

Well putting together a woodied sr-80i together was a rewarding experience so when a rough set of 225i's came up I bought 'em. I already have some gorgeous aluminum gimbals, headband on order, but I'm torn about the cups. I am going wood, no question. I liberated the 80 drivers without a second thought, but with the 225's I'm on the fence, I am leaning towards a slip on instead of full lib, just in case I ever want to put the GRADO sleeve back on down the road. Anybody have any ideas about who is putting together a sleeved wood cup (hence not a true full woody) that won't break the bank?

There are some gorgeous rosewood slip ons being sold by Yew Audio on eBay.

I bought from Yew Audio. Very nice work and fast shipping. He is also on etsy.com with slightly lower prices.

Its my SR60i with brass slip-on housing by Gamja Labs. More significant in low sector.

i picked up some mesh on ebay (i think i posted above the link to the mesh)...it arrived today and looks pretty similar to the grado mesh, just a tad bit larger holes. i think it should work fine in the new housings...

here's a pic of the mesh compared to the stock mesh on the sr225 cups

How much did you pay for it and it does look quite close to the original (if not the same) post the link if possible.
