The picture I posted is a former SR80. The cups look like others I 've seen on the thread. They are black cherry that I got from a Canadian guy on eBay. I also fully vented them. I like to do a full vent and then back them off with felt pads attached in the cup, if I do that at all. I like the boom sound with full venting. I also added a Grado 8 conductor cable. The sound is the best of all the phones I have.

Question: I see a LOT of different cups on ths thread. I haven't read the full thread. Is there a list of people that make cups? I have a pair of Grado RS2i on their way and intend to use them as a reference point.

I love those cups! Ha Ha

Although Iv'e never heard any of the Grado's with the wooden cups, I do own the 325is and the cups are aluminum and they sound awesome to me. From what Iv'e read the wooden cups are supposed to make the sound a bit warmer. I used to own the 80i's and the cups where plastic, and they sounded awesome also, so who knows if it just aesthetic or not. Also some companies that offer wooden cups state on their web site that it is purley for aesthetic purposes. Also Iv'e never had the oppurtunity to change the same drivers between wood, aluminum, and plastic to hear if their is a difference. Sometime in the near future I am going to purchase another pair of 80i's and Vibrolabs classic wood cups, so I will give a good listen to both and tell if I can hear any differences.

Just get some wood chamber / insert and you get yourself some HF2 clone. These alum cups looks very nice.

I must not be looking in the right place...

For those people that are doing a dual entry removable cable mod, where are you sourcing your mono jacks for the ear cups?  I can't seem to find mono, but I'm seeing stereo everywhere.  I suppose I could use stereo and just wire up the Tip and Sleeve connectors, but I'm still curious about finding the mono connectors.

I found these from Radio Shack, but I'm not sure on their quality.  I'd love to find something similar as I like the look rather than the squarish black panel mount ones.

How about parts express?

Looked there but didn't see them (unless I was looking in the wrong place or something).  I did see stereo connectors, though.

They do have 1 mono connector, but I don't think it's the same type people are using.

Side note:  I got some parts from Redco today to make some adapter cables for my 225i's...they're a LOT bigger than I thought they were going to be...

If you are rough with your headphones go for the 1/8". I treat mine with care and would do mini mono connections for weight and size.

Dont forget, with larger connectors in the cups you are also blocking more of the driver, which can affect the sound of the headphones as well. I have noticed this with me single sided cord momodes grados. The left where all of the wires are sounds ever so slightly different than the right which has only two 18 gauge wires in it
