I was lucky enough to have an old (old as in probably amongst the first to be produced) pair of SR325's given a few weeks ago, though they they were in need of some TLC.
The drivers are fine (though different colours!) but the leads needed resoldering to the drivers. I did so and cleaned up some slight cosmetic damage to the cans caused when the previous owner had them apart, shortening the cable and fitting a 3.5mm jack while I was at it.
I made a pair of earpads from foam as a stop gap whilst some HD414 pads arrive from the US. (11GBP for two sets, free shipping. One UK dealer wanted 15GBP plus shipping for one set!) BTW, the home made earpads, made from an are surprisingly comfy.
One thing that was annoying me was the "antennae" being so loose that a slight inclination of my head meant the 'phones were in danger of falling off my head. So, today I drilled and tapped the plastic and turned up a pair of 4mm grub screws to hold the lot rigid. I'll probably make a couple of thumb screws to replace the grub screws to make adjustment and storage easier.
I may replace the lead with a single sided, more flexible one, but at the moment I'm just enjoying the h3ll out of them. I've listened with headphones for 20 years or more but never progressed beyond the quality of Koss Portapro and Sennheiser PX100, so it's like having a complete new music collection to listen to.
