As for the DirecTV causing a ground loop, I did not know that. There are receivers in 3 rooms upstairs where I am as well as one in the home theater downstairs! I'd just assumed it had something to do with appliances in use upstairs. Never considered the satellite issue. Guess I'll let the electrician check it out and trace the problem. I still haven't found it.
