I love how the poll limits our choces to, yes I post with a mobile device & what the heck would I want to do that for. I myself fit more into the I would if I could, but I cant, I am guessing just about everyone fits in that category, or the no I wouldn't but I could understand why someone else would category. Both of which this poll does not account for.

Very astute observation, sounds like something a genious would notice. Only wish I would have thought of saying something first or something smart like that.

I use a combination of GSM/GPRS/3G/Inmarsat and others. I'm set up to do most of my work while mobile, and I do a lot of mobile Head-Fi posting... I'd say 50%, if not more. I've read PM's on mountains, posted reviews from isolated islands, mused from planes and argued the merits of phones while rattling around in various vehicles.

One of the nicest places I've posted from was late in the day out on the deck of a yacht in the Mediterranean. The weather was perfect, it was hot but there was a hint of a breeze, the steward had just cracked open a great bottle and I'd finished for the week.

One of the worst places was just before trying to go to sleep in a tent which we'd hurriedly pitched in a compound, sharing with a couple of other unwashed people with the sound of small arms fire in the background. I had equipment sticking in my back, elbows sticking in my sides and most memorably, feet for which I would say 'knock a dead skunk over' was a world-class understatement in my immediate vicinity. I can't remember what I was posting about, I think it was just something in the Member's Lounge actually but I do remember the incongruity of the situation made me smile after I pressed "Submit Message".

Right now, I'm typing up some reports in an office, breaking wind as often as I like after a chick-pea-heavy supper as there's noone else around. Ah, the glamour of it all.

I don't have the capabilities, but I'm sure that I would if did.

For those of you using cell phones, are you typing your posts using the numbers or do you have portable keyboards or something? If you are just using the keypad, how long does it usually take you to type stuff in? I guess you would probably get better over time, but I would still imagine it taking a really long time...

Hmmm... A significantly more accurate picture would be a very low-rent Q.

Using the keypad - the T9 dictionary function makes it quite speedy!
