Canare Star Quad Question...

why in the world would they have 2 blue wires and 2 white wires? isnt the whole point of making them any color so that you can tell one wire from the others? im really confused at why a company would choose to do that.

I dunno. I'm going to guess that it's because they want you to use the 2 blue wires for ground and 2 white wires for signal. You see, I read somewhere (I think in the stickied DIY interconnect thread) that thoeretically you are supposed to use the white conductors for signal because when you use any dyes to change the color it adversely affects sound quality. The less colors the better SQ I guess? Use both blues for ground and just go get a multimeter and find the rest!!!

I think what he was getting at is that you still need to identify which white wire is for L and which is for R.
I use a very ghetto method by just testing them manually with an old headphone's transducer.

i guess i would prefer that one of the blue and one of the white get a stripe or something, so i can tell the left from the right one...
