Rate my equalizer! (56K warning!)

My friends are hocking stuff left and right to finance the conversion of a garage into a recording/performance studio, so I bought an ADC Sound Shaper One Ten - IC equalizer off them for $40.

I tried boosting my portable CD player (I don't have any other dedicated source), and boosts of over 6 dB (halfway up) cause distortion, but it sounds alright when I deemphasize the other frequencies and turn the volume up.

Is this thing any good?

I have that exact same eq in black.

built like a tank....I opened it once.

its not a high quality eq, but it does a great job nonetheless.

Your EQ is garbage! Send it to me and be rid of it!

Just in case....I'm kidding around.

hahaha Thanks for the info

One more question - how much is it worth, retail when it was new (it's pretty old), and street price now?

its on ebay for 50 bucks "buy it now".

I think thats what you should expect at the most.

Its a damn fine EQ, but not of any higher quality. Most (non-hifi) people dont even know what an EQ does let alone wnat one. And a self proclaimed audiophile wouldnt add an EQ to their system. There are exceptions to this, but just realize that its old and not an "audiophile" component.

Keep it and have fun playing with it. I enjoy mine.

You made me hook up mine and jam to some Toots and the Maytals. It helps expand the low end on a system lacking in that area, but I could tell there was a lot missing in the mids and highs.

Thanks.
