what do we think of Kimber Kable?

Thread Starter
I was thinking of getting some of the lower end Kimber speaker cable.

Is it equivalent to anything less expensive.....although 3 bucks a foot isn't that expensive anyway.

I dont know the exact model of cable I'm buying...I was just asking a general question.

Thanks.

Kimber Kable is a well respected name in the audiophile portion of the industry.

Kimber cables are good to start out when venturing into the cable world.

Kimbers are excellent cables. They're "entry level" ones are a great buy. I've used PBJs in most of my HT setup and the Heroes on the audio side. same goes for the speaker cable.

I have a .5m PBJ interconnect with WBT 166 RCA's. It was my first seriuos audiophile cable and it was a major step up from the standard one's shipped with the CD player. They are excellent cables for that price. The only real negative thing I can say about them is that the lowest bass is, actually, very restricted. Often you hear people saying it is taught and focused. Well - I think it is simply restricted with limited extension and very little energy.

Kimber Select cables are very well regarded and I know a least one hifi shop in Munich that uses the 1030 as their reference ICs.

I have some KIMBER 4TC speaker cables as well. The only thing I can say is that they too offered a quite remarcable improvement to the standard bell wire. I upgraded them with WBT angled bananas, but I remembered that I found it not worth the money. There was a very subtle increase in the stereo width, separation.

I've used Kimber Kable 8TC and 4TC with PostMaster spades in various 2 channel and HT systems from time to time. I've also used their Kwik 12 wire for an in-ceiling speaker application.

They're a solid company, and I've always felt that they offer a pretty solid value up and down their product line. If you did a search over at Audiogon for the specific Kimber product that you're interested in, you might find some useful threads that would give you alternative options in the same price range.

Kimber is also my mom's maiden name, so I guess I'm a little biased.

Interesting, I have the Russ Andrews Spring 2005 catalogue in front of me now and they are the UK 'exclusive' retailer for Kimber Kable.

Or as I read it the UK charge how much you want retailer of cables.

They do a Sennheiser cable at the bargain price of £160 for 2m!! though I've yet to find anyone actually using one.

Take a look at their prices and consider yourself lucky in the US. I won't give the webpage link (google is your friend) as it would be a little like advertising.

Mmmm should I try the 60 day home trial?

I think I might go with their less expensive in-wall cable. Unless your last name is Gates.
