ladies and gentlemen.. i present to you - the amazing $2 hd25 OFC cable mod!! no, your eyes do not deceive you - this mod cost me just $2!! 
the victim:
a generic brand ('daiyo') 99.996% shielded OFC cable. sure, it may not be litz, nor be made of 99.999999999999999998% OFC, or but heck, anything is better than the original senn stainless steel cable.
off with her head!
the newly liberated rca end of the daiyo cable.
here's where it begins to get interesting; i hit upon the idea of tinning the bare ends of the coppper wire, folding them upon themselves again, and then adding some more solder to make a 'solid' end. this solid end would then act exactly like the pins on the stock senn connector.
confused? i'll let the following pictures do the explaining.

the 'crossover' bit is fastened to the headband using zip ties. i had realised a little late that the daiyo cable's diameter was a little too large to fit into the recessed 'gutter' provided in the senn headband. so i used zip ties.
the lone survivor:
the original senn stainless steel cable. i'll keep it around just in case i ever need it for anything else.
so, how does it sound now?
well, for starters, sibilance has dropped to almost NIL now. this was very welcome news for my ears as i am allergic to sizzly highs and sibilance, what imo was a problem with the original hd25. in addition, the (imo) slight metallic edge to the highs has also been taken off after my mod.
over in the bass department, midbass seems a tad bigger now. however, whether that is an outright benefit remains to be discovered as the hd25 imo already has a big bass with a slight hump in the midbass.
so far, i have yet to discern any difference in the midrange.
and remember - anytime i find a better cable, removing mine will be a cinch!
