The circuit boards and custom heatsinks for the new modules both arrived today. After seeing it, maybe I will call it "Black Dynalo". Now to get some assembled

i don't really like black circuit boards, all the pretty parts just disappear into it. Red is associated with cheap because of how much it's used overseas. Yellow/orange looks like a 1995 motherboard. Green and blue I think are the best, but decided to try black on these modules so they stand out separate from the main board. I see there is also purple soldermask which could look cool. I once thought white was a good idea but it just looks like a piece of paper with parts stuck in it.

I just sold my silver GS-X - something that I thought I'd never do, especially considering the 3 years I waited for it, but I guess it ended up not being as rare & unique as I thought it would be. Fully plan on acquiring another when the new GS-X & modules are available, so I can get maximum power output.
Since the last time I wrote anything about the GS-X was years ago (5 to be precise), I thought I'd add an update to my experience with it. Definitely the most "transparent" amp I've ever heard - allowing the source component's sound to go directly to the headphones without adding any sonic coloration. And probably the most versatile solid-state amp that's ever been made - able to drive everything from IEMs to orthos like the Audeze LCD-3. I got to hear all kinds of headphones on my GS-X, all the way up to the Qualia 010, HP1000, LCD-3, HD800, etc. And it did a great job with all of them. My favorite combo was with the Qualia by far, which gave amazing treble, but the HD800 was pretty good too. I seriously can't think of a better multi-purpose dynamic amp than the GS-X, and with the new modules it'll be even better-armed! Looking forward to their release soon.
I completely lack a dynamic amp right now, which just feels wrong.
My only amp now is the electrostatic BHSE.

Couldn't agree more.
I wish there was an SE version of the new GS-X that was identical in SQ. I'd be all over it. Regret selling my GS-1 DACT.

There has been 2 SE outputs since day 1. But you're only hearing 1/2 of the amp as its fully balanced front to back (the way a balanced amp should be
).

But you'll be getting / hearing the same output in the SE version as well.
The SE outputs the same on the GS-1 as it does on the GS-X - correct?
