Volts into different loads sounds good to me. An OTL tube amp that outputs 50V unloaded but only 5V into 25 ohms, not so good.

Ummmm excuse me, not trying to derail the thread but we have to talk. Let me first introduce myself, I'm DigitalFreak but everyone on here calls me DF, nice to meet you prep, Hope you don't mind me calling you prep. We seem to have a bit of a problem here my friend in that I'm seeing double "cough avatar cough" Shall we settle this like gentlemen with our best headphones at 20 paces in the head-fi parking lot?

Hey man - where did you get that? O parking lot huh.. 3:00pm after school - be there or be square.
To be honest. I never saw you around these parts before. But I found the avatar on the Internet somewhere. But seance you got like waaay more post than I do. I'll take a step back..
Not a problem. Strange though - that we have the same one..

They are both misleading if only given at one point. With watts or voltage you can get the other. But if only given at one extreme, means very little. Ie telling me you have a 45Vpp output but failing to mention that its never going to happen into 50Ohm because current is capped at 15mA is pointless. Or saying 8W into 8Ohm tells me you have great current output but maybe that same 8Vrms is your ceiling.

Thank you very much sir. Nice new avatar to bad it isn't a Indianapolis Colts logo. By the way the old avatar wasn't a big deal I was just joking around with you lol. Come on in and say HI if you want. I'm sure the tribe would be interested in meeting my doppelganger.

Sort of like this?
Dynamid = (2001-present) - Dynamid is present day name for a balanced Dynalo. The original Gilmore dynamic amp has a balanced bridge option which added an inverted output stage to each channel. That amp has two input stages and four output stages. The balanced bridge amp only needs an unbalanced source. Two outputs are connected to the left side of the headphone and the other two are connected to the right side. It has twice the voltage swing, twice the slew rate, and four times the total power. A fully balanced amp will have four input stages and four output stages as four separate channels. That is how the balanced dynahi is built and how some of the balanced dynalo amps are built. But it requires a balanced source to drive all four channels.
Prior to the Dynahi release, many people considered this to be "the reference amp". After the dynahi release, the proper place in the pecking order the balanced bridged amp must be "the middle", and therefore people started calling it the Dynamid. This is an unfortunately misleading name. Dozens, if not hundreds have been built in the DIY community. They used to be commercially available www.HeadAmp.com under the product name Gilmore Reference Amp.

It's a module update so if one board is Dynalo+ then two becomes Dynamid+ ;) Here is the inside of a GS-X for example...

as promised, here is a comparison of the max volts peak to peak of:
New GS-X w/ new Dynalo+ modules
Old GS-X w/ new Dynalo+ modules (for those who just want to upgrade the modules -- the same thing applies for the GS-1)
Old GS-X w/ original Dynalo modules (GS-1 has the same results)
These are single ended results so expect the numbers to be roughly double when driving balanced
With the New GS-X/New Module, there is more power across the range of headphone impedances, and also much less distortion than you'd experience with the old module as you approached its limits.
Putting the new module in an original GS-1 or GS-X, it's with low impedance headphones (32 ohms and below) that you will see the greatest benefit.

$199 for GS-1 $399 for GS-X
cant upgrade a V2SE because it didnt use modules for the amp circuit.
