cracking hd25sp

hi there -

i've got a pair of HD-25SPs that are driving me mad. i love them to bits, but one of the wires keeps coming loose and cracking and coming in and out. i went so far as to buy a new cable, and it still happens. the worst bit is that both sides do it intermittently, so it's not a faulty earpiece... seems to happen by design!

any ideas on how to stop this?

I don't have a problem with mine.. I can just push the plug into the earpiece until it sais click. I have to pull pretty hard to get it out again.

Well, since you already tried a new cable, my guess would be that the spring contacts in the headphones are either dirty/oxidized or are loose. Some people have reported good results using contact cleaners such as Pro-Gold and the like. I've also read that some have managed to open up their Sennheisers enough to tighten the springs and a few even SOLDER the wires for a permanent connection (though I wouldn't recommend either exept as a last resort). Maybe you could call Sennheiser about your problem or send them in for repair/tune up?

thanks... i tried opening them up, and apart from seeing a very fragile looking driver, i saw the thinnest wires i've ever seen. definetly not something i want to **** around with without knowing what i'm doing.

i think i'll take them to the dealer.

thanks anyway guys.
