YHD-2 arrived!
I couldn't wait until I got home, but decided to use it at work first (impatient as I am). The MacBookPro gives it's usual result, with a monster bass presentation as the most overwhelming characteristc. Usually, connected to the 0404USB/XCANv3, the result is different.
Highs are clear and present. No loss there.
Making an unfair comparison due to the inferior source / amplification (actually, I think the amplfication is the main problem with the MBP, not it's dac), when it comes to voices, it's between the unemotional presentation of the HOK and the sweet presentation of the Grundig and HP50, with a tilt towards being unemotional. (So, when using the 0404/xcanv3 as source/amp it could all change completely)
Headstage is very good, as expected.
The headset both looks great and is very comfortable... but that was also expected.
The box only promises hours of enjoyment, but I hope it lasts longer.... From the pictures on the wiki I expected a small brochure in the box, but apparently it's gone (if it was ever there) :-(
Otherwise, it looks NOS to me. 20 euros well spent :-)
( I don't know if I should expect any burn-in effect on this NOS unit... but I suppose not? )
