Orthodynamic Roundup - Page 621

I assumed it was putting the right driver on your left ear. I tried it again last night with my YHD-1 and it wasn't as uncomfortable as I remember. I didn't listen for long enough to notice a difference. I didn't have time. I probably won't tonight either.

Rats, I kind of maybe wanted it for myself, not that I would know if the drivers I'd be swapping in would be a good fit.

Hey guys, I need some advice. I am looking for a headphone to give to my sister so that she can listen to music from her laptop. I want the best bang for the buck, so orthos come to mind. My requirements are that it is cheap, it sounds good (damped pro30 level) and it's easy to drive (easier than the Pro30/SFI). Can you throw in some suggestions?

The word is that headstage is spectacular? What damping was used on the driver? Any other mods needed? (Is it comfortable to wear it insideout?)
Just a reality check on this YHD inverse ear thing = it was just me mucking about and thinking - wow this sounds pretty good. They soundstage really opened up but it was comming from behind and it needed some tweaking if this was going to be a permenant position - for one I would flip the drivers for correct stereo imaging, I would also rig up a foam pad to supprt the frame on the temples and not the ears as that could get uncomfortable after a while.

Try it - it was fun..dB

ps I damped them with a micropore donut and felt center puck

There isn't an ortho that covers all the criteria. Get her a Koss KTX Pro or the KSC-75 or something like that. She'll love it, she'll think you're a genius, and she'll be out of your hair ("Tony, I really like the slammin' bass, but if I recabled this with boron-plated nichrome twisted pair, do you think I'd get...."). Which is all you really need in life, sometimes, especially if a dissertation is calling your name.

x2 unamped the orthos are not a good choice.

But, a Koss KSC35 in a $1.99 parts-express.com headband will sound even better, or splurge on some Alessandro MS-1.

I also have been suggested to take the Yamaha RH5-ma dynamics, which seem the most viable choice. Turns out the sister doesn't seem keen on wearing cans, so I'll leave her cooking for a bit.

What about palladium-plated ohno continuous casted ultra pure molybdenum? Might be a little stiff, though. And have you tried different isotopes?

Just poking fun, fsma. If I hear a big difference I'll believe it, but as of now, I'm a non-believer.

at last my SFI's had arrive today, here's the picts...

would the SFI's suit on 40mm cans enclosure ? my friend (with the 32ohm's SFI) want to keep in mini portable form, me not...

btw i'm being outbbid again on that T20RP, anyone here won it ?

At that price for the T20v2, I don't understand why anyone would go for the Yamahas at all.

Those SFI drivers any good? How do they fare vs the Yamaha drivers (In regards to frankenphones)?

Also I was thinking about transplanting said drivers in to my 701s (left 701 driver is dead so why not lol). Any thoughts on this?

Yes iQEM, 40mm driver cans are the right size baffles to seal those into.
