Yay the Wharfedale! Only one thing lacks-- photos of the driver with that hand-drawn diaphragm and the string-and-leather magnets.

And of course, since the 'dale is the pioneering isodynamic headphone, about 5 years before any of the other known orthos or isos, we'd like to know its history, who designed it, etc., but I fear that info will elude us. That's sad, because someone over in Blighty had caught the Issigonis spirit of genius simplicity and managed to git 'er done. The 'dale is beyond Wallace, all the way to Gromit, British down to its socks. [stands to gives RAF salute with jelly spoon and Weetabix but faints from clamping force of HP-50S]

Fascinating that only the least and the most expensive iso headphones managed to get the damping right!

Back to that quiet place in Brooklyn for a moment-- the HP-50S comes to me in exchange for a Signet TK33 back-electret electrostatic. Be prepared for shrieks of "Where's the @#$% BASS??!" to split the tranquil Brooklyn calm.

Thats it....time for some King Pickerbling recable lust!

First off, thank you ortho sensei dBel84 for you mad masterful skills and help
I will not pretend that I thought that recabling my beloved Pickerbling (thanks for the great name Smeggy ) will dramatically improve the SQ because of the majority of opinions regarding this subject on this thread,I just thought that using the Jena Labs ulrawire would look beautiful with the aesthetics of my favorite ortho headphones. That being said, the base is now noticeably deeper,it is even more resolute then before and the soundstage has busted wide open I can easily say that these are the best ortho headphones that I own at the moment.I used to prefer the YH-1 that I have from a SQ standpoint but in comparison they just sound veiled now, this makes me wonder what improvements theses cables will make on the yammy drivers?!
So without further delay....the money shots:

18AWG pure copper cable with Dayton plug and Cardas solder

Ok, now wait a sec, who is on that last pic???

What do I get for having preached the "recable your Yamas" mantra for the past few months?

Wow, that last pic really spices up this thread...

Ok, now another "must-do" ortho mods... Hopefully it will never end.
Wow, nice photo!....Yo-..Smeggy .
Also good lord that cryo cable + the pickering harness, blingest headphones around lol.

Ludo, gotta say your recabling looks awesome, I guessed right that they would be reveal themselves as slightly overdamped after the recable huh .

Great stuff on the thread, those giant Wharfedales are tres cool as well.
And it was Wualta who got the 50S! No idea if Wualta's is like mine, or even if dBel's are like mine, but they are awesome headphones. Its a real shame mine are in shabby condition.

Uhm, wow, I have seriously been underestimating the power of that Jena wire!

Awesome yoginasser! I must admit I didn't catch the foreshadowing in the beginning comments... I hope nobody minds that I quoted that pic.
