You might have to pay $10 instead of $5, now.

Don't be silly. As one guy said, you can't add anything with EQ, just reduce.

Though the ear-side drivers are bare? considering you are using larger pads now, aren't your ears touching the drivers?

They arent bare :), iv replaced the stock ear-side material with a v.stretched out stocking (because it is much more acoustically transparent, and still offers some protection). Nope ears dont touch the drivers. But i dont see how the cloth would make a difference to touching (if your ears touch the drivers its not like there is any effect).

its a Sony BT101 replacement pads but too bad its a velour, not pleather..

i purchase that pads cheaply from ebay, a blind purchase..
maybe you want to try a replacement pads for AKG K518/81dj on ebay..
i thought its about the same size..wink.gif

Hiya iQem, thing is im looking for a small velour 'circumaural' pad. Those sonys are supra. The JVC pads are tiny for circum. Pads make a huge difference in sound.

Pad rolling causes significant changes in sound, even between similar looking but different models of pads. It's a 'tuning' area we overlook. The reason i wanted to try the circum route (whilst keeping the small pad size) is so the entire driver radiating area can be exposed to the ear rather than a small part. It opens treble that way. Its a little more balances with the leaky stock pads at the moment, since the circum gives a tad too much bass.
Just dont have time to get back to playing with em (and looking  for pads)

At the moment i didnt have an opportunity to test these against a stock pair (and stock yh1/hp1 can vary...). It was quite a lot of effort (due to my tools) to do this so i dunno if its really worth it for all. But i do feel it can offer a more flatter (less bumpy) sound. But im still not done with tuning as it requires pad rolling still.

Yeah the C forks are made out of brass. I lost the first piece of brass in a supermarket, then bought another piece which i spent ages shaping and drilling/filing and i realised i made them too short :(. Then bought another piece of brass and finally got it right lol, grr.

Im not entirely sure how to deal with the pro30, but yeah experimenting would be cool :). If anyone has a $50 YH-100 im all ears :p.

I think I'm the only one here who doesn't like seeing these destructive mods.

I'd much prefer to 3D-print a brand new set of cups instead of cutting into the originals.

And yet you don't like the non-destructive digital mods, either. You need to cut loose.

The thing is if you make a new frame then the old frame is just going to waste sitting in a drawer. Also the original cups are made to exact size for the driver and opening etc.

If its a collectors item then yeah i wouldnt like to cut into it (eg a vintage YH1000 or t50 etc), but this was a YH1 with some wear, not too rare.

What about the digital signal convolution?
