Ludo's mega thread search engine seems to be "down."  Have you posted your YH-100 mod configuration?

Many thanks.

That is wonderful. Thank you. Very well photographed. I still have what may seem like stupid questions. What thickness is the creatology foam? also what kind of felt and where to get it? Fabric store? I think I have some felt kicking around from my days of homeschooling my kids. Will that do?

it is the thin stuff from michaels, not the self adhesive kind. the old felt from homeschooling will do the job perfectly. I tend to default to vintage felts ( it will be a sad day when the stash runs out )

Well, I modded my YH-1 set as you suggested. Felt, foam and gasket around the driver. I got almost no volume now and extremely tinny sound. No bass and super clear and pronounced highs. Did I over-dampen? What now?

yep, bass should be deep but very well balanced, i think you have too much pressure on the driver

47 pages of relevant searched posts within this thread yields zippo, except for a vague mention here or there, and nothing of recent nature, there is however some mention of micropore tape.

Searching on this end is done

So what should I do? Remove the foam layer? Ease up on the felt? Perhaps trim it a bit... I am such a newb!

Generally the more damping you put in, the less bass there will be.

You might want to get a less dense material. Felt is quite dense and can easily damp out too much bass.

You could experiment with thinner felts or foams or cotton make-up removal pads.

On the topic of YH100, have any of you guys tried the Stax Sr-x pads of them? mine are worn to a pulp and need a replacement.

I had the same thing happen to my modded yh100 when modifying them. too much damping and lost the bass. Don mentioned to also leave a couple of the side vents open and go from there. Now this little critter sounds very good.
