If you use sticky tape, it should be very conforming (ie, not stiff) and have an adhesive that will stand up over time. All we want to do is plug the holes so air can't get past the diaphragm.

Try to get some nice clear macro photos of the patient for us, if you can.

Oh-- the part of your multimeter you'll be using is the ohmmeter.
OK, thx for the advice Wualta...

What ear pads are those? They are awesome!
thanks, they are sounding very good with a bit of damping. The pads are Beyer aviation series..dB

Man, hard to read that site on a BlackBerry. So they offer the brown as a replacement pad or do you have an even more expensive hobby?

wishful thinking, one of the folk I met over the weekend was trying to persuade me that flying would be a great distraction but that thought is on a distant back burner. You can order the pads from beyer directly..dB

Red Bull Air Race over Budapest with a tour of Salzburg, accompanied by a phalanx of both brunette and blonde Beyer aviation headsets... ?

Tempting.

Don, ya shoulda gone. Hang the expense. But keep feeding us closeups of this classic open-back contraption of yours. Have you tried a binaural recording on it yet?

OK. I need Colin to design a portable amp for my orthos. Please! Should be back to road warrior in a couple of weeks and I've become spoiled by the T10s.

Oh noes! BMF a Prisoner Of T10 Love! Won't somebody help this man?

Me, I've been revisiting 1972 with the help of a first-version Koss ESP.9, and though they were indeed amazing for their time, be very glad you live in the post-Orthorassic Period.

Talk about old, I'll give you old-- the cord is so dried out and stiff that you can just stick it in the air, bend it the way you want, and it stays there. But the crazy thing is, it still works, with a little help from DeoxIT.

That's all well and good. Here's the interesting little discovery: the diaphragm on the 9 isn't Mylar (a polyester named polyethylene terephthalate, the stuff the 2-liter soda bottles are made of). It's polyurethane film. I wonder what advantages that material might have for an ultrathin ortho diaphragm.

I think the Wharfedale ID1 is quite brilliant in stock form wualta...and its from back then too

another one that I will get to hear soon

as for T10 love - yes it is special, like a mini T50 which excels beyond its expected capabilities once damped.

I spent some time listening to the new beastie and i have to say that it does almost everything superbly well and has a wiiiide headstage. I suspect i have it a little over damped but this was merely the first round after nothing at all. It needs some but it is the balance that needs teasing out. That said - this was proof of principle and it is back to the shop for the real cups and then the tweaking will be precise.

wualta, didn't some of the early orthos use PET? familiar but distant bells toll in the recess of my memory.

BMF - just build the moskido for the orthos or sachu may chain you down to build the ehha

The T10s are my most efficient and smallest ortho so they would be my portable cans.

Is the moskido a portable?
nah, the moskido is an aikido front end with a mosfet doing all the work.

try and find a cheap TTVJ Millett portable - this little amp drives the orthos very nicely and is really gorgeous too.

I have the Aikido 24V that I'll build with IRF510s.

I've been eyeing that TTVJ amp.
