Ipod photo 2nd generation

Thread Starter
Does anyone know what the difference is between the Ipod photo 60GB and the Ipod photo 60GB 2nd generation? I've seen both advertised for sale at the same website (bhphotovideo.com) but the 2nd generation sells for $20 more. What is the difference between 1st and 2nd generations? Thanks.

The first generation comes with a ton of accessories, while the 2nd gen comes only with headphones and a USB cable. Get the first gen while you can! The ipods themselves are the same!

Wow. Apple sure it getting good at *giving you less but charging you more*. :-)

Any bets on how long before they get to the *Bose* level(I think the iShuffle is close!) of this practice?

A) Except they charge less.
B) That's silly.

Another difference:
New Photos 220x176-pixel resolution LCD
Old Photos 160x128 resolution LCD

it's not a second generation ipod photo, it's the exact same just with less accessories therefore costs less.

Perhaps I was merely exercising my right to make a fool out of myself?

That's silly, get your facts straight. The LCD is 220x176 on all photo models.

1st Gen. 40gb photo is almost the same price as the 2nd Gen. 30gb photo. I think that the 40 is one of the better deals around right now.

yeah only go with the 30 if you need it to be more compact.

Okay Taphil. These are some of the sites I got my info from. They may be wrong. If so there are a bunch of sites that are. But I'm tonight also finding sites both saying the old and new would have the higher resolution (see http://www.mp3.com/tech/players_31201014_overview.php) or that they all have to lower resolution (see http://everymac.com/systems/apple/co...ics/index.html).

My earlier post was from sites listing the differences such as...
Old Photo - http://www.scoutingaround.com/comput...nerations.html
Old Photo - http://apple-history.rhapsody.com.hk/ipod_photo.html
New Photo - http://www.apple.com/ipodphoto/
Discussion - http://www.macworld.com/forums/ubbth...b=5&o=&fpart=1

And if anyone can make a real comparison between Bose and Apple I'd like to hear it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound mean. Anyway, there's only one place you need to check, http://www.ipodlounge.com/reviews_mo...d=5701_0_6_0_M . All the color screens for sure are 220x176. A 2" 160x128 color screen would look worse than the cheapest cell phone screen.

There is nothing new, they are just selling a different package deal where you dont get all the extra stuff but at a lower price. What is the big deal about this?

Some people appreciate every given opportunity to feel "ripped off" by Apple and complain about it, even if they didn't buy their product. It's bien a la mode.

Dont they also have better battery life?
I also think they advertise better sound quality. I listened to some 128kbps mp3s ripped from cds and it sounded surprisingly good.
