Well the DT931s are a huge step better than the DT801s, that much I can say so far. I'll see how the DT831s stack up when I get them, since I still have need for a closed phone.

can anyone reccomend me a good music to listen to with dt770 / pro 80 in stock form?

I just want to enjoy high quality music that makes dt770 shine,
I'd like to start listening to trance but i dont know what...

thank you for your recommendations.

I'm enjoying my 770s with a lot of j-pop and general synthesized pop music. Imogen Heap sounds great on it. Before buying them I tested them with some Portishead(yeah not pop), and I liked it more than the Red Hot Chili Peppers I also demo'd. I'm currently listening to Utada Hikaru on it right now and I think it suits both her voice and music really well.

If it means anything I'm also using a Little Dot II amp.

DT880-'03 with Cardas cable and black earpads.

Bass impact is strong driven by the RSA Raptor (2x GE 5 Stars 5687, RCA 12BH7A).

just wondering which is better portable beyer? dt250 or dt660? dt250 is probably a little smaller, right?

I went to a Head-Fi meeting last sunday and listened to a number of different brands of headphones. Although I was expecting to hear some phones where I would go:"This is it!", I didn't. I loved my own DT-770pro(80 Ohm) and DT-990pro(250 Ohm) the most. Both are the pre-2005 models. They give me so much more pleasure listening to then all the other phones I heard.
I guess that makes me a real Beyer-lover. And a proud one that is!

Cheers!

question to Duncan

Hi, I have a question to Duncan - I've noticed you have your DT880 upgraded with Cardas, could you tell something about it? Beyers Darth upgradings are rather well known but with Cardas...Do you feel it became a better, a lot better? in what respect? What are the most significant changes? What you "did not like" the most and did Cardas made the difference etc?
I'm looking forward to see your remarks,
Thank you in advance, leener

P.S. How much was it? Did you do it yourself?

Just picked up a loaner paid of DT880's (2003 I think) 250ohm from my parent's friend. Gonna give these a go against my K701's and HD595's. After listening to them last night, I find the DT880's rather sibilant with my Corda Aria.

Hiya,

I did a comparison between stock cable and Cardas cable a while back (if you can't find it with the search, let me know and I'll try and hunt it down) and I found the Cardas cable to be cleaner sounding than the stock cable...

...I bought the DT880 with the Cardas cable pre-attached from HeadRoom a couple of years back, so I cannot tell you how much the cable costs by itself

...Not much help I'm afraid!!

...On the bright side, I really like the synergy between my DT880s and the Headroom MicroAmp

I still love my DT 990 (2005)'s. They have stopped me thinking about headphones and I don't look at head-fi as much as I used to.
