Does anyone know how to release the Yokes from the T1/T5p headband?

Nevermind, turns out it's permanent. There are ways to remove them, but not for the faint of heart..

Just ordered what will be my third set of DT440s !  I could kick myself for selling my last pair as these are overall my favourite set of headphones. Such a perfectly balanced, musical, and airy sound. Will probable replace the 990 pros and Grados in my current lineup. Yon CAN have too many headphones IMO.

These are no longer made having been discontinued, along with the sister model DT660 & 860s, so it really is the last chance to buy the classic and underrated Beyers. Add EDT990VB pads and they are as good as I need really.

Have you had a chance to compare them to the DT660 and DT880?

No sorry only DT990 & DT860 (and DT150) More forgiving and and natural sound than the 860, nicer for long term listening. Smoother in the treble. DT990 vs 440 very close just different Beyer flavours. DT990 technically better I suppose but I just find the DT440 so satisfying with any music. It is the spiritual successor to the much loved DT531 I believe but never became as popular.

Why has this thread died ???

Beyers have had a bit of resurgence recently with the DR1770/1990 and Amiron but this was once the place for all things Beyer.

The great original headphone brand deserves its own thread and this needs resuscitating !!!

I've owned quite a few beyerdynamic headphones (DT 880 Pro 250ohm, DT 990 Pro 250ohm, DT 250 250ohm, DT 800 Premium 600ohm, and DT 1990 Pro 250ohm) and enjoyed every set a great deal. I still own the DT 1990's and DT 250's. The DT 1990's are, without a doubt, my favorite headphone of any I've owned or demo'd. The DT 250's are a great headphone for monitoring. Neither set is going anywhere.
