This is my first quality headphone and now I'm looking for either external soundcard or dac/amp combo to make these babies fly.

Awesome for movies too even without amping!

I own those too and don't allow anyone on this forum to try and make you think you made a bad choice. Considering their price they are a fantastic deal, much better bang for the buck then Senn HD650 ($550). These forums can be so damaging to your wallet because for every headphone you name you will find posts that will steer you wrong making you think you need to buy something else, they will tell you they are bad for some reason or another.

I come here thinking maybe it is time to upgrade my headphones but now I find I can't even make a choice because every headphone I think I might like I find too many negative opinions. People said HD598 is so much better than HD595. I bought both those headphones. It is not true that 598 are way better than 595, I compared them back to back and not from audio memory of years gone by, not to my ears anyway. Now I don't own either of those headphones and only reason I bought them was because of comments about them here. These forums are a a double edged sword.

Now I see people saying thse newish Sony MDR 900 sound like HD650 and are good but then I see others saying they are just average and nothing special. I can get those for $200 USD compared to HD650 $550. But who to believe? Can't got to the store and make my own informed decision so am stuck with comments from this bipolar forum.

Beyerdynamic does. When I priced them for dt990pro and shipping to Canada I figured it would cost me close to $50.00 dollars so just washed my old ones instead.

They sure aren't to these old ears either. I've had a pair of 595s for years. They're not my main headphones (those are Beyer DT880s) but the 595 is such an honest, neutral phone I wouldn't think of letting it go. I bought the 598 a while back out of curiousity but didn't find it anywhere near as good. Rather dead sound with a harsh treble--nothing like the comments here would lead you to believe. Just shows there's no substitute for listening.

Very nice, I do suggest you try it with some RCA 6AS7G too

My Glenn Amp just died so I'll be using the WA2 some more again.

I've posted this to the DT880 thread as well.
Ok it's time to pull the trigger on the tube amp for the DT880 Pro's...

Not much in the FS forums so eBay it is.

I have chosen the Little Dot MK IV.

The original La Figaro site has expired so the only way to get a 336c is from unauthorized sellers on eBay.

They also have Darkvoice 336se's up on eBay as well.

All three are within my price range, so I am looking for any opinions on the choice of the LD over the other two before I make the purchase.

Thanks!

Recently got the DT990 Pro, very happy with it. Listening now as I type this. I can't believe it's this good for the price. How can Beyer sell the Premiums for £100 extra?
