Proud new owner of DT990 pro - 250 ohm.
This is my first quality headphone and now I'm looking for either external soundcard or dac/amp combo to make these babies fly.
Awesome for movies too even without amping!

I'm very much enjoying the T90 since I got it, I find it to be the best Beyer for me so far ( and it's my 6th Beyer: DT1350, COP, DT770 AE, T70, DT990).
Would I gain noticeable gain in SQ if I buy the Fiio E6?
I was looking to buy E10 or X-Fi HD but they are harder to find and are almost 3times the price of E6 where I live.
I should note that, right now using just my laptop, the volume can reach pretty high and become almost uncomfortably loud so Im a little confused wether I need an AMP at all or not...

The Beyers benefit in sound quality with good amping regardless of volume level. That said, personally I would avoid the E6. It doesn't have a whole lore more power than a mobile device or laptop headphone jack already has. I would instead look at something like the E11 or E12 or the E17 if you want a built-in DAC.

Thanks for answer.
One reason I asked was because it was really cheap and I thought I could give it a try, but I think I should look for better amps.
the other reason is that this amp can be used while charging as I want a USB dac/amp (hence the e10) but e11 I guess cant be used while charging and also e17 albeit very good amp is pretty much out of my price range unfortunately.
In that case the E10 might be your best choice. Others might have additional recommendations but there isn't a whole lot of stuff in that price range that is good. Its hard to beat Fiio's prices.
Yeah man thats what I thought but its price is a bit steep for me right now, hoped E6 would do an acceptable job(noticeable difference SQ wise from my laptop) but it seems I should wait...
Why not buy them from a retailer? And make sure you get the right ones. The ones for the 880/990 shouldn't be used on closed cans and the ones for the 770 shouldn't be used on open cans. Look for EDT 770 V for the silver 770 velours, EDT 770 VB for the black 770 velours, EDT 990 V for the silver 880/990 velours, and EDT 990 VB for the black 880/990 velours. Here are some example links but other retailers sell them as well:
I really don't give enough credit to my old DT880s...
Running them out of my Burson, they really don't let on that they're eight years old, still sounding contemporary, very clean, and an enjoyable sound...
The pads are trashed though... does anyone know if 2003/2005 vintage Beyers can use modern pads (fully interchangeable?)...
Thanks :)
I heard a set of DT880 at the Canlanta meet for the first time this weekend, and wow, those are really impressive cans. Unbelievable how reasonable these things are on the F/S thread sometimes. I keep trying to tell myself that I don't need these, but want has a way of superseding need that is very persuasive...
