Thanks Lini - I'll definitely look into that. 3 beam laser? Other than skips -- I wonder what the advantages are?

I dont know how manny Beems the Laser uses but the Operating manual to the SL-sw860 says that improved servos and Better Error Correction result in Improved Playback of soiled disc .
This model is now replaced with a Newer one that looks stupid not cool like the 860. so ya might want to get the 860 while it last.

If you carefully listen, using the bass boost trough the line out of ANY Panasonic cdps, it will affect the overall sound of the unit making the sound boomier than ever, lowering the mids awfully. Just try it connecting your amp (Total airhead) through the headphone's out and you'll notice an enormous difference......

One of the guys here at the office has two Panasonic portable CD players -- and both of them play right through my CDs that skip considerably in my Sony D131 and Jude's RadioShack CD player. Have any of you guys experienced this with your Panasonics? It's really amazing -- I mean -- these CDs skip like crazy, but in the Panasonic it's smooth sailing.
Heh. Panasonic CD-ROM drives are also infamous for being about the only brand to buy to play pirated music / data CDs
