if not, are there any included brackets to allow for normal casing pci slots?

hi,

i discovered this thread due to a link in a german forum.

i am interested in the onkyo se 90 pci soundcard and i like the chinch connectors and i do not need the input pluggs the other cards supply.

some of you have this card or a similar one. it is possible to use this soundcard together with the onboard sound? i want to keep the onboard for surround sound for dvd and games via projector. does onboard sound interferes the onkyo se 90 or causes any problems at all?

if not, can i easily setup the different programms like winamp, powerdvd etc. which soundcards they have to use?

or it is possible to use the onkyo optical out for passing the surround signal to a av-processor? in that case i could just disable the onboard sound.

i hope you understand my questions as i am not a native speaker.

thanks for your help

can't anybody help me, please?

re:hi

I've SE90-PCI maybe I can help bit.

SE-90PCI use 2ch chip inside.
So you can't choice 5.1ch with card.(include optical)

I never face trouble with change setting for onboard.
I use foobar2000 ordinary.

If you need 5.1ch SE-150PCI is best choice.

SE-90PCI and SE-150PCI are best choice in that price Japan now.

It's lot better than my old one (aureon sky 5.1).

Critic says it's better than Juli@ and comparable with 1212m.

I'm Japanese so maybe I can't help you with my English.

I don't own the Onkyo, but I would imagine it would be the same if you got this card. If you want your onboard for everything else, you can leave your onboard to do those things by making sure that you go to Control Panel > Sound, go to the Audio tab, and make sure under Sound Playback, set the default device to your onboard audio.

Then you go to foobar or Winamp, whatever it is that you use as a player, and under your configuration/preferences, go to whatever output plugin you use and configure it, and select the Onkyo card as the card you want to output your music too.

Does anyone actually own this soundcard? If so, could you please post some impressions? I know this might have been mentioned before, but is there a sound quality difference between the 90PCI and the 150PCI? Thanks

I'm using the SE 150 PCI

There's no audible difference between these two cards - both sound like no other card before My system took about 100 hours to burn-in and settle and the sound is really nice - should be experienced to understand
