The inputs (and the other outputs) are on the breakout cable that plug into the green port.

Yeah that light purple cap is definitely an OSCON. I'll definitely be giving this card a shot. Even if it doesn't sound that great stock, the modding opportunities are obvious

I think the odds are stacked in your favour as regards whether or not Onkyo UK will import the soundcard!

In addition have also emailed Onkyo Japan so will see what response if any I get from them.

*prays for Linux support*

it's based on the envy, there's a chance...

Checking the card specifications on the Onkyo Japanese website they list the recommended O/S as:-

Windows 2000 Professional SP3
Windows XP SP1

Although at the present time Windows 2000 Professional is now at SP4 and Windows XP is at SP2.

As I am using an online translator to convert Japanese to English the converted language can be slightly odd!

There was also a note on the website relating to the O/S Windows 2000:-

>>*2: With 24bit/192kHz output correspondence of application is necessary.
With *windows2000 it becomes the correspondence to 24bit/96kHz depending upon the restriction of OS.<<

harryo: oh, you never get *official* support for soundcards on Linux, never. It all depends on how easy it is for a hacker to reverse-engineer a driver, or get hold of the specs.

As I am a brainwashed Microsoft user, the mysteries of Linux is beyond me!

Although with the latest computer system that I intend building I am thinking of getting my nephew to install Linux in addition to Microsoft XP.

As regards the Onkyo SE-90PCI I am in touch with a firm in Japan who already stock the other versions of the Onkyo soundcards and who ship worldwide.

For those people interested in the Onkyo SE-90PCI this firm is at the moment checking the availability of the soundcard and will contact me when they have further information.

Looks awesome!

If I just hadn't ordered AV710 I would have serious thoughts about these new Onkyos.

Compact look of that smaller card is just what I like. There's everything I'd need. 2xRCA and optical output. Wonder how much it will cost?

The price in Japan is 9,980 yen (at Onkyo's e-shop) which converts to about £50 (GBP).
