Seems we're getting a new contender in the audiophile soundcard market.
This card really looks great!

At $100 this seems like it might become some serious competition for the 0404, what do you guys think?

Man. That is awesome.

If I had a desktop I would go grab one right away.

And I'd probably grab another one to mod.

The multichannel version has always interested me but it was more expensive and I had no need for multichannel. But now this is out, it looks intruiging.

looks very good indeed, let's hope it will be available in full height PCI version too.. they're using external oscillators with the Envy, nobody else does this, DIP opamps are friendlier for mods, I think I see an OSCON there too, coupling caps are at least ELNA Silmic in this case.. and stereo Wolfson DACs are said to be good.. next question are drivers, but I suppose there will be no problem..

I scoured the net for info on the onkyo cards last week and I'm pretty sure I saw a picture of the card coming with an additional standard sized pci bracket you can switch. Why the short one in the first place? (don't think I've seen any like that)

Certain situations only allow for so called half height pci cards, that's why they are made.

After reading about the card on the forum I have spent a couple of hours doing web searches on it, you are right about the additional bracket, it can be seen on this website:-

I have just emailed Onkyo UK to see if they will be importing it.

How does a Wolfson DAC compare in sound signature to an AKM (such as on the 0404)?

I think lack of audio input is something serious with respect to 0404 comparison.

Yeah, for the target group of the 0404 that might be an issue, but for most of us here on this forum it really doesnt matter. Not for me at least...

Bet you ten quid that they won't. I didn't succeed in talking Onkyo Germany into offering the SE-150, either...

who cares, let's go group buy! japaneese head-fiers volunteer, that's an order!

Group buy indeed. I'll need two, one stock and another modified. I don't really need yet another soundcard but it's good for educational purposes

Duuddee... just saw that the card comes with a half-height bracket.

Now that's awesome. Finally, an audiophile grade soundcard for small PCs.

Anyway, I don't have a desktop now but if a group buy ever happens I'm definately getting one or two.
