Headphone Splitter

I'm looking to get a headphone splitter for use with DAPs, portable DVD players and the like, and I was wondering if there was anything in particular I should know. I assumed this was the best place to come to find out. While I'm not quite an audio idiot the distinction is splitting hairs, and as far as I know headphone splitters are all the same. Not looking for anything fancy, but is there anything in particular I should know? Thanks for any help.

Let me rephrase this:

Is there such a thing as a crappy headphone splitter?

You'll be fine with one from ratshack - not too much that they can screw up with on a headphone splitter
just remember that if you use different headphones with different impedances they will probably have different volumes
