Cable fragility (and the paranoia that follows)

Thread Starter
I just sent my hd-600's to headphile for a woody and recabling with v2 cables. First of all, they sound soooooooo good. He mentioned to be careful using them with an ipod in my pocket, because if, for example the ipod was sideways in my pocket, and the cable was always right angled sharply, it would eventually break. This has caused incredible paranoia on my part. I barely move with them on my head. I am careful to make nice big circles with the cable in my pocket, as not to kink it. But there is only so much one can do...

I was wondering if any of you who have headphile's v2 cable have damaged theirs or know from experience how durable they seem to be.

Thanks

if you are using straigt plugs there should be strain relief with in the plug itself, but depending on the wire if its something solid core then excessive bending will eventually break the wire.

its its stranded, you'll most likely break your ipods headphone jack first. its a right angle plug you shouldnt have to worry too much. Ive rewired my own Grados but the plug I use is fat and heavy, along with something like a 10' foot cable, so its for table top listening only.

enjoy your rewire, I wouldnt pocket it though. What is the specification of the rewire? got pics? id like tosee your mod!

Just to make it clear, it's not something he did himself. Headphile is now a fairly large entity in the headphone community. You can see all of Larry's (Xanadu777 here at Head-Fi) work at www.headphile.com.
