ATTENUATOR FOR CD PLAYER?

Does anyone have any experience with this type of product?

It claims to reduce the input level to preamps and the like and is recommended for use with CD players. Is there some consensus that their output levels are too high?

I use attenuators such as those with when using my Gilmore v.1 (it has a stepped attenuator) with higher sensitivity phones -- it allows more precise volume adjustment. I guess the big question is whether it degrades sound quality. I haven't A/Bed it because it would be very difficult to do on my set up, since it affects the ability to adjust volume. I think I would react to the difference in volume too much.
