Speakers for Sonic T-Amp

What is a decent pair of speakers (Preferably in black color) that will work well with a sonic t-amp? I'm looking to spend a max of $300 for both, and I would prefer to buy new rather than used.

Thanks in advance

the ascend acoustics cbm-170 would be a good choice. but, they are just slightly more than $300.

Those look nice. So a t-amp would have no problem powering them?

91db in room sensitivity. so, the t-amp should be able to push those speakers to about 100db at a distance of one meter.

that'd be plenty for me, but i'm not sure of how big your room is or how loud you like to listen to music.

Do remember that it's not only a volume loss though, by underpowering speakers. You can damage things, or at least make them sound down-right terrible.

I've heard very good things about these and they do fit your price range. Free shipping in the US to boot. If I weren't going to build my own speakers, I'd probably get these or the m2i that are a step down, but there's only a $20 price difference if I remember correctly, so it'd probably be worth it to get the higher model.

so out of the two speakers (Axiom M3ti & ascend acoustics cbm-170) suggested in this thread which would pair better with the t-amp?

See for yourself how they measure:

Note the true sensitivity of the axiom. I would go for the ascends if I were restricted to these two models and I didn't do diy.

When I was looking for speakers I actually considered the CBM-170's, but never had a chance to audition them. I'd also recommend the Ascend's CBM-170 in general, not sure for the T-amp in particular though. But the Ascends have amazingly flat response. They don't go too low in the bass, but they should blend pretty well with any good sub. The Axioms don't have as flat a response, and have that typical bump in the low bass that most bookshelves speakers have. Of course, response won't really tell which one you will prefer, or which one will match better with the T-Amp.

The impedances are relatively similar, with the slight upper hand going to the axiom. However, sensitivity is heavily favoring the ascends. The tripath chip has no trouble driving low impedance speakers afaik. Higher powered tripath boards are used as car subwoofer amps. I don't think there's much doubt that the ascend will mate with the axiom better unless there's something big I'm missing.

Well I finally received my t-amp and all I can say is wow! This thing sounds better than any of the 2 ch amps that I've ever had. Plus it was a lot cheaper. Right now I've got it powering my polk r15's. If it can power my r15's without a problem then I'm sure it would do the same for the ascend acoustics cbm-170 or the Axiom M3ti. Now I just have to decide which one. I don't plan on adding a subwoofer so maybe one of the speakers will work better than the other for that reason. Also, has anyone had any experience with the Axiom M22ti?
