Ordering my Omega Minuets today...

I will be ordering my Omega Minuets in a few hours. I have decided to try a pair of these out as an alternative to the Vandersteen 1C's I just sold (in one day!) I am looking forward to the increase in detail and volume of good clean sound I should recieve with these speakers in my setup. Louis said it would take about 2 weeks to build the pair in the finish of my choice: figured red gum which is shown in the photos on his site (http://www.omegaloudspeakers.com/Minuet.htm).
I will be looking for some stands locally to match with these, too. Any suggestions?

Rather get the recommended stands on that site there, no? I'm thinking recommended will give you the best result.

How much are you willing to spend on stands anyways?

Does Omega offer a return policy, or trial period? How about the ability to exchange the speakers for a different model if they don’t work out for you?

Yes, the speakers include a 30 day trial period.

Probably best, yes, but I'm going to try and save by buying local and I think $100 for a pair of stands is about my budget. Louis mentioned Sanus makes some good ones for about that price... btw I just ordered them and they should be here in about three weeks.

$699 but Louis gave me a discount so it was $599. Btw, I'm going to get the recommended stands with it if I can...

Well as it turns out the clipping/distortion problem I was having was not my speakers at all. It was my amp. Therefore selling my Vandersteens may have been a mistake. However, since a new pair of 1c's is the same price as the Minuets /w stands, if I decide I don't like the Minuets I can always return them and buy a new pair of 1c's. That's if I get my amp fixed...

Sound aside, it's entirely possible that something is wrong in the power stage of your amp. It should not be struggling or distorting at only 12 o'clock on the volume dial.
I hate to say it but... I told you so.

Sorry man, I couldn't resist!

I think everybody told him so at least once. Still, I feel for you. Maybe you can keep the Minuets and audition some other amps to see what's best with them?

The amp is being looked at by a tech now. We'll see next week what happens.
