filtered DC output = regulated DC output?

I just recently bought a Radioshack 9V AC-DC 300mA "Filtered" power adapter for my CMoy. I was wondering if "Filtered" = "Regulated". Anyone?

It could be regulated, but filtered does not mean regulated.

Well, I'm listening to it right now and I hear no noticeable difference from the 9v battery. Should there be some sort of hum or buzz or something you can hear to tell the difference between a regulated and non-regulated wall wart?
