Just spotted this on the NME site, apparently, there's a "hotly-tipped" new UK band called "Hard-Fi". Are they members?

Any Fans? Anyone who have their CD, stars of CCTV?
I got "Head to Beat" from a Demo CD off a Rock Magazine. It sounds like the band "The Clash". I really like the tune, but unfortunately, the recording quality of this song (esp the guitar-line) is quite horrible, and unlistenable from my ER4p.
My Question is if the entire CD is like this?

Sorry to bump an severely old thread..

I have listened to this cd for 10min orso. I wasn't impressed by the sound nor soundquality.

Thanks luuk. Hmm, so no fans or avid haters here.
I think I'm gonna buy it this weekend because its been nagging me for the week.

I'd like to hear what you find of it. could easily be that you love it. As I said I only listened to it for max 10 min. (probably 5 min.), in a noisy environment(in the MediaMarkt, always busy there) and the price was to high for an impulsbuy (19 euro's which is about $24).

ok, I bought it and been listening at it for a while.
I like the sound. I really do. Sounds very retro and catchy. I will definitely go see them live if I had the chance.
the soundquality is, however, horrible. Really horrible. Such a shame.

They're quite catchy and I like that one song featuring cowbells ("Middle Eastern Holiday"). :P

"Cash Machine" and "Hard to Beat" are my favorites.

They're playing "Cash Machine" on my local radio station, and surprise surprise, it's a darn good track. But then again, I'm a sucker for that sound, this has to be THE biggest Gang of Four clone yet in the current crop of immitators. They've copied right down to the synth sound straight off Songs of the Free, and even latched on to the socio-political-economic slant of the lyrics.

I would suggest anyone who likes Hard-Fi to check out the real deal, Gang of Four's first album remastered with bonus tracks, Entertainment!, or the 1998 100 Flowers Bloom Anthology:

I've heard a couple of tracks and they sound retro to the point of lacking any originality.

Ill look into it. I listened to "Damaged Goods", which was on the same Demo CD as "Hard to Beat". I had a stronger impression from "Hard to Beat", but then it may have been the recording.

I don't think Hard-Fi write songs for any reason other than money. I watched them on TV, I think when they were just about to release their album, and from an interview with the singer I got the impression that basically they don't want to be unique or creative, they'll just do whatever sells asap. That's a strange attitude to songwriting IMO. That interview and the imitating mentioned above doesn't make me respect them that's for sure. 'Cash Machine' is a good song though.

I saw them live a few months ago. Not my type of music but, for what it is, pretty well done. I think they have real rockstar material, at least for the pop charts.
