Best rechargeable 9V's for Porta Corda

I was wondering what rechargeable 9V's I should use to get the optimal performance out of my Porta Corda. I've seen the Plainviews, but I don't like the fact that they need their own charger, and that the charger (at least from the one picture I've seen of them) only takes a single 9V at a time.

How do the Maha 8.4V's compare to the Plainviews? It seems that they are more convenient than the Plainviews, because they can be charged with one of the smart chargers that Thomas Distributing carries.

I don't know about the Maha 9v, but I've been very pleased with both the AAA and AA versions. They also make some of the best chargers as well.

I tried the Radio Shack 8.4 v NiMH, and wasn't impressed. The Plainview is an entirely different beast, which I strongly recommend (at least with the RA-1). I have no idea if the Maha is a better NiMH than the Radio Shack, nor do I know if the Porta-Corda will respond in the same manner as the RA-1. If you plug the Plainview charger into a lamp timer, it's smart enough.

Plainview charger

Hirsch,

Is it true that the Plainview charger can only charge one battery at a time? I am leaning toward the Plainviews, because they have a very nice voltage, but I'm a little concerned about the convenience factor for the charger.

Hirsch,
What didn't you like about the Radio Shack's?? I just got a pair to put in my RA-1, but haven't done any extensive listening to notice any huge differences. If there ends up being a noticeable difference, these batteries may be demoted to the smoke detectors.

I use two Maha 8.6V NiMH batteries for my JMT CHA-47 (lasts 10 hrs) + Alltek charger. Thomas Distributing is the place I got this stuff from. I also use Nexcell AA's and AAA's for my pcdp.

If you put rechargables in your smoke detectors, be prepared for waking up in the middle of the night. Only lion batteries retain their charge for significant periods of time.

Thanks for the pointer and other info! I overlooked that thread when doing my message search.
