Hi, I recently ordered the Fostex T50's for use in our lab. We run experiments in which people hear music or speech and make judgements about various aspects of the stimuli.
Testing out the Fostex -- I was disappointed to find the ear pads come off very easily. This is not good for our purposes -- ear pads fall off, get kicked around, and get lost far too often in a lab setting.
So now I'm considering exchanging them for one of the other brands we were considering: Sennheiser HD580 or 590's and Audio Technica ATH M30 or D40f's.
Does anyone know about the relative security of the ear pads on these brands. Or are there any other headphones that can stand up to intensive use without the ear-pads flying off that also meet pro-audio, closed system specs?
