HI: If you do buy the MS-1 you can get it in the 1/8 with 1/4 adapter. I use the 1/8 in my portable radio and don't need a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter like I did with the 225. When you order choose the bottom choice that says cable with 1/4 adapter. That is the 1/8 plugg.
Thanks. That's good info.

The plug -- that's one of my problems with the 225...

HI: OK now to soup the MS-1 up. The headphile C pad Alpha adapter/pads might take the MS-1 to a new level in sound and comfort. Also the Senn. 490 headband add to the comfort also and then you will have a very souped up MS-1. LOL.
I've been thinking about doing something about the headband, but probably it will be something homemade with foam and two-sided tape. I'm fine with modded Senns though, i seldom go for marathon sessions like you

Well, I just recieved my new MS-1s, so I'll add my first impressions. Keep in mind that my reference cans are HD650s..
The highs are a bit shrill and bass is a bit lacking out of the box IMO. The pads smell bad, and its giving me a headache.. I ordered some modded senn pads from the mall-fi post, hopefully the pads combined with break in will remedy these issues. They do slightly benifit from amplification, but sound almost the same from a portable. The only difference I can hear is bass has less impact unamped.

Oink1: they'll be there soon; mine took about 10 days, no extra cost (9 months ago).

- From mine own experience these headphones really did improve a lot after 50+ hours -
From: “mmm…not bad”. To: “GREAT!”. If you like them now out the box you’re gonna love ‘em later - I think.

They’re not perfect by all means – with time you might notice a couple of flaws, but the rest more than make up for that (after all they're still only an entry level headphone) remaining very fun to listen to.

This may sounds funny: but these phones have character; they like grow on you, day after day. I often wondered if this is the case with Grado headphones or fullsize headphones in general - sinze I only used MS1.

I never thought I could have a relationship with a headphone

Do all Alessandros need a burn process to sing better ?And how long is it?I saw numbers between 20 hrs and 100 hrs which are far from each other...
