Just had a great experience with iRiver Customer Service

I have read a few times around here that iRiver's Customer Service has been known to be a bit dodgy, and I started to really feel that way after being on hold for about 40 minutes. But once a representative picked up the phone, everything went great. My iHP-140 died on me last week, the battery started to overheat and will not charge and the unit will not turn on. Being out of the 30-day Limited Warrantee and unsure how their 1-year warrantee would apply to my iHP-140 purchased at the end of November and received at Christmas, I was pleasantly surprised to be given an RMA# and given a exchange without question after I explained my situation. Overall, I'm very pleased with the process and am looking forward to receiving a functional iHP-140 in 2-3 weeks.

I don't know why people say iriver CS sucks, probably other owners of DAP's saying that iriver America offer better after sales support, compared to the German office.

btw why do you say it's out of warranty? It has 1 year warranty..what is the T&C of "limited warranty" in your country? I know in some circumstances we UK'ers have better customer protection compared to the US.

iriver America have replaced units even after 12 months , and even with user negligence of the DAP (using wrong charger, dropped, LCD screen smashed etc)

After reading the warrantee description on iRiver America's website, I was just unclear as to exactly what conditions the 1-year warrantee applied to, because after describing the terms of the 1 year warrantee, it makes it seems as if it only applies to "iMP player consoles". Either way, I'm a happy camper .

Hey I bought my iriver ihp120 in america in july, but I live in the UK. Over this period of time my iriver has been pretty badly scratched as the paint has come off. Also the headphone input is lose and often loses signal when the headphone jack is moved slightly, do you think iriver will replace my player and if so what should i do?

Thanks

Parijizzle, contact iriver America. No problem with headphone jack as that's a genuine fault.
