Be Aware of Shell Brook Lab - Page 5

Wrong, as a community we look toward each other for guidance and advice. If i was in the amp market and all of those people that i looked to for advice, glossed over Shellbrook Labs' business practices/ethics problems, i would feel extremely cheated and let down. Additionally the signal is being given to Shellbrook Labs, either you employ proper business ethics/practices, or your business will suffer. It seemed for awhile that these threads had done the job and that things were turning around. We were wrong.

Apparently you have not read any of the posts in this thread. The crux of the problem lies in the fact that you can't contact Drew, and if you somehow manage to, you will quickly find out that your amp is in the mail, or in some cases, some one else's amp is in the mail. If it was possible to contact Shellbrook and have the problem fixed, everyone would be happy(ier). This is not what is happening.

Numerous people could provide documented proof in the form of email and PMs that this is not always the case.

Too many people would love nothing more, however, they're still waiting for their amp to come in the mail.

The Shellbrook as it has become, will not be missed. No one will miss having their money taken and then lied to regarding their purchase.

People miss Headsave because if you gave money to headsave, you got something in return. Usually an amp.

The market is now wide open. If you know how to build a quality amp at a reasonable price, and have even moderately decent business ethics, then there's a lot of people who want to give you their money.

And herein lies the irony, you actually received your amp, too many people, way too many people have not.

If the market is open. I'd like them to notice what Blueberry Audio has to offer. Real amps with exceptional build quality, realistic prices, nice friendly and honest service and a little something for other DIYers.

LOL....good first post.....

Always a difficult decision between direct contact (EDIT: I meant keep trying contacting him after a long series of uncessesful E-mails) with the builder or letting the community know that something is wrong.

Personnaly I dealt with a deadbeat builder once and was very happy to see some «posting» about his awfull customer service. But to this day he hasn't got what he deserve as his fair share of negative feedback. In fact he has still a virgin record.....

Some of us are way too polite....(understatement.... )

Not too polite. Just geeks who regard amp builders as gods and can't do any wrong !! How many times have you seen "so and so is a great guy." bah. Being a great guy has nothing to do with how one conducts business. I wouldn't buy an amp from Mother Teresa.

He'd told me the same thing. I won an auction on eBay in September and waited until after Thanksgiving to get the amp. I did however upgrade from the Maxi Moy to a Pimeta. He also forgot to include the cables in the shipment. To make up for his lateness, Drew gave me Pimeta Signature Amp in place of the regular Pimeta I'd ordered. I don't think he's lying, I think he's mistaken. Without an order tracking system he had no idea he hadn't sent me the cables. He also had a problem with the amp, the capacitor blew on the testing bench.

I was emailing him several times a week and there were times when I didn't hear back from him. I was worried but I kept trying to contact him. We finally connected and he made good on his promise of the amp.

We all make mistakes, I'm not saying he hasn't made mistakes. I still don't believe he lied.

“If you aren't part of the problem, then keep your comments to yourself.”

What a crock. Someone has to look out for the New Members here. Some one has to step forward and point out “The emperor has no clothes”.

“Drew is an honest man and an honest on-line retailer.”

In what way? Numerous people have indicated that he flat out lied to them. Numerous people have gotten NO response from him. It’s totally off base to make the above statement based on the information posted here and in numerous other threads.

Looks like there are 3 options:

- Resolve the problems and keep your commitments.
- Close the business since you aren’t doing anyone any favors by running a half-a** operation.
- People spread the word and complain to PayPal, the credit card companies and post appropriate negative feedback and eventually drive you out of business due to your own negligence.

The people who are supporting Shellbrook Labs don’t seem to have read the complaints or noticed the volume of complaints. The only time people get results is by turning up the heat. Seems like he could just do the right thing in the first place?

If he doesn’t properly address the situation it will work it self out and not to his benefit.

“Thaddy I've read the previous threads. I don't believe that Drew is trying to deceive.”

Well after just a quick glance here are 3 people who disagree with you.

“He said it was dispatched six times and it wasn't and clearly many others are getting the same response.”

“Drew said it'd ship on 1/25. It is 2/24 and I still have nothing.”

“I had been lied to. One problem after another occured with my order and every time, there was an excuse.”

I could dig up probably another dozen incidents if I took a few minutes.

Have you all had enough of this thread yet? It seems as though the point has been clearly made, to use a football term it is just "piling on". Unless there is something more of substance that needs to be said I am inclined to close this.

Also, how many of you with direct experiences have posted in the Buyer/Seller feedback area? (rhetorical question BTW).

Alea35, your amplifier is shipping on Monday, along with the last of the backlogged amplifiers. Noname, ditto with your cable...

While i don't agree with the idea of closing any threads, i think it would be valuable and interesting to hear how the above specific cases play out.
