I think MD33s are youre only other low impedence option that ALSO sound good. Theyre a "shallow" canal phone though not an earclip. I think they're 16 ohms.
I never had a problem with the KSC cord and it spontaneously coiling up (Looks at KSC75 sitting on desk...). When new, the cord has kinks and bends in it but it straightens out in no time. Try warming up the cord with a hairdryer and massaging it on a towel. That might help relieve any built up tension.
Might want to consider the senn MX series. Theyre ear-buds and not canalphones so they dont stick deep into the ear. Pretty sure their impedence is lower than the KSC (dont quote me on that).
Shure E2cs have a very heavy gage / thick wire that doesnt twist at all. But its a canal phone.
