It's happening all the time..M&K, Lexicon, Kef, B&W all limit either internet only dealers and importation from other countries..it's all about controlling the price and keeping them high in other countries.

I've been told www.needledoctor.com is the place to get Grado for non US citizens as they ship at the rated prices. Not tried them myself, so I can't confirm what I'm saying Might be trying them soon though, been looking seriously at the SR-225.

Yep, the MS1 is based on the SR125 as far I know, from what I have read at head-fi. Almost makes me want to buy one.

Well that kind of makes the SR125 a lesser value, doesn't it? I mean, the SR125 is worth every penny, but the MS1 would be worth, say, every 1 1/2 pennies. Or something like that.

There are differences between the two. From the short listen I had with the SR-125, it had a bit more slam in the mid-bass, IIRC. The MS-1 probably has it's advantages over the SR-125, but I didn't do a direct comparison. Anyway, I bet Alessandro sells a lot of MS-1's! They don't need any marketing when they got this forum

True! Too bad I live in the states, so it isn't a required option. But they do sell some other stuff that's really great from the looks of things.

man, Skinny Puppy is just rocking on my SR-60's (which wear quarter modded 414 pads). i think i might get a set of MS-1's in a couple weeks, though. it's just $100

Yup, I found GS posts to be very entertaining and 'communicative' for lack of better words, although most of the times I disagree with him (he hates 595 so that's gotta be his fault =). I'm sure he has his fingers already on keyboard at this moment ... we'll see how effective a self imposed ban is.

Have you tried increasing treble a little bit ? Maybe that would help.

I thought 414 pads were like $30, which would be a huge percentage of the SR-60's original cost. Well anyway...

I was just looking at the SR-60 in my closet. Grados look cool, don't they.

Well, I do use a speaker that doesn't get enough consideration due to its price and position on the audiosnobophile radar. In 5.1 they're great, in stereo, they're awesome for the money- KLH 9250B's, floorstanding towers I got for 100$/pair last year to start shoveling out my older inferior setup thanks to the Grados. I made a thread about it, but it died a while ago. In any case, the speakers I have are very satisfactory. It was either going to be them or the Cambridge Soundworks 58 system. The setup I have is cheaper and has done everything I've asked it to.

Not at all, they cost me 11$ for two pairs . I modded the first pair and have kept the second in the sealed package so they'll be fresh when I need them.
Flat pads have always been the expensive option. I'd like to see a silicon rubber earcup that is more circumaural in the future, as a DIY project, maybe.

And yeah, the Grados look awesome, especially with my amp, a JMT built CMOY variation. I'm trying to remember where that thread was at the moment.

I also got Grado SR 60 headphones about a year ago for the times I am working outside. They really do rock wonderfully on most music.

I bought mine used of the German ebay and mine came with the Sennheiser 424 earpads

However, for greatest enjoyment I like to hock my modded Beyerdynamic DT 990 to my CJ CAV 50 amp.

GSferrary, what are you gonna do with all those tubed headphone amps that you now have laying around?
